Portraying ourselves as artists is a difficult task. Our goals really decide a lot of our design issues when it comes to making a site. Your website for my classes are aimed at demonstrating understanding. Who are you as an artist? How do you demonstrate this so we can see what you have achieved and what you are interested in? This site will document your work, research, and the path of your visual thinking as it evolves.
This means that you will add everything you have done rather than showing only your best which you would do if you were publicizing your art to sell or advertise your services for money.
This site will serve as an example. I try to do as much of what I assign as possible so I properly appreciate the difficulty and also to provide more accurate guidance. I don't want you to copy the site but rather to use it as an idea of how to show what you have learned and how to package creative inquiry projects. Hopefully you know enough about my work and interests from our class discussions for this to be instructive.
Elements of Online Portfolios:
We have a lot of stuff going on in our courses. We have a wiki for each class, wiki pages to communicate assignments, personal pages to communicate about your personal projects, interdisciplinary projects, and artist studies. We also work on drawing, painting, sculpting, and conceptual work. We have sketchbooks. Soon, we will have iPads. Not only that, we now have these crazy things Mr Allen calls Studio Portfolio Websites,... So, what is this nonsense about one more thing called Dynamic Portfolios?
Well, the dynamic portfolio is actually just a name for all of your digital pages and your portfolio online. It is called dynamic because it grows and changes with you. Technology changes constantly. So do you and so does your learning. Here are the current elements.
